Transcript: Michigan State University If you are considering attending Michigan State as a freshman, you should pursue a college preparatory curriculum that at a minimum includes: • four years of English (composition and literature) • three years of math (two years of algebra, one year of geometry). A fourth year of math is preferred. • three years of social studies (history, anthropology, economics, geography, government, political science, psychology, or sociology) • two years of science (biology, chemistry, physics, or earth science) • two years of a single foreign language If you are lacking in one of these areas, it does not mean your application will not be considered. However, a less rigorous curriculum could put you at a disadvantage. MSU encourages students to take honors, Advanced Placement, and International Baccalaureate courses when possible. It is preferable for students to fill course schedules with a majority of core academic courses each marking period, including four each semester during their senior year. Deadlines High School Students Michigan State University uses rolling admission; however, the number of qualified applicants has exceeded available space in recent years. For maximum scholarship consideration, seniors should apply by November 1. (Students applying after November 1 may qualify for scholarships if funds are still available.) Decisions are typically made eight to 12 weeks after all application materials are received. (Please note that an initial admissions decision may be a "withhold" decision, in which a student is asked to provide more information to the Office of Admissions.) November 1 November 1 Scholarship awarding begins November 1. All admitted students are automatically reviewed. Students applying after November 1 should not be discouraged since they may qualify for scholarships if funds are still available. After January 1 Admitted freshmen interested in receiving financial aid should submit their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as soon as possible after January 1 of their senior year of high school. February 1 Freshman applicants to the College of Osteopathic Medicine's D.O. Medical Scholars Program must submit an application for admission by February 1. Four weeks after admission/May 1 for fall students All admitted students should submit their Advanced Enrollment Deposit (AED) within four weeks of receiving their admitted student packet. Freshman students starting fall semester must submit their AED no later than the May 1 deadline or their offer of admission may be canceled. After submitting your AED, you may register for housing and select a date for your required Academic Orientation Program (AOP), which fills on a first-come, first-served basis.
